Youth struck on head with beer bottle in bar fight dies on spot in Ramanthapur
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old youth was killed in a violent brawl at the Good Day Bar in Ramanthapur late on Sunday night, after he tried to intervene in a fight between two patrons.
The victim, Pavan Kumar alias Kalyan, was struck on the head with a beer bottle and died on the spot.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10:30 pm on May 25. Pavan Kumar, a resident of Bapunagar in Amberpet, had gone to the bar with his friend Rishikesh alias Nani. At the bar, a heated argument broke out between Shravan Kumar Goud (26), a resident of Patel Nagar, and another customer, Harikrishna.
As Shravan began attacking Harikrishna with beer bottles, Pavan stepped in to stop the fight. Enraged, Shravan allegedly turned on Pavan and hit him on the left side of his head with a beer bottle. Pavan collapsed and died at the scene. Harikrishna also sustained serious injuries during the altercation.
Pavan’s father, Kummari Bhaskar, a car driver, filed a complaint with the Uppal Police. In the FIR, he alleged that negligence by the bar management in controlling the situation contributed to his son’s death.
Bhaskar’s family had migrated to Hyderabad from Chegunta village in Nagarkurnool district 26 years ago for livelihood. He had already lost his elder son, Praveen, in a road accident four years ago.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against Linganolla Shravan Kumar Goud and the management of Good Day Bar. An investigation is currently underway, the police said.
