Hyderabad: The city traffic police have warned of strict action against those violating road rules, such as drunken driving, minors driving vehicles, driving on the wrong route and rash driving.
Hyderabad CP VC Sajjanar, IPS, warned that drunken driving, especially, will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Monthly meeting to improve traffic policing
Sajjanar, IPS, conducted a review meeting on the Traffic Department at the TGICCC Auditorium in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. He inquired about the ground-level problems faced by the personnel during their duties. He also received suggestions and advice to further improve traffic policing. Subsequently, he issued directives to the traffic staff on several key issues.
He said that ‘Convergence Meetings’ with officials from all departments will be organised regularly every month starting from November 27. He stated that traffic issues will be discussed at these meetings to find solutions.
Technology to solve traffic problems
He instructed the formation of special teams to conduct a scientific study on U-turns. He suggested that the Real-Time Traffic Monitoring System should be further strengthened. He also directed the staff to formulate a plan to curb traffic problems using technology.
He stated that Hyderabad Traffic Police need to work as a ‘Multiplayer’. He directed traffic officials to visit and inspect accident sites when road accidents occur.
He announced that a Traffic Command Control Centre Protocol will be established soon. Keeping the traffic congestion in Hyderabad in mind, he ordered all senior officials to take proactive steps towards resolving the traffic problem.
Warning against corruption; rewards for excellence
He lauded the traffic personnel, stating that they are the ‘Face of Hyderabad Police’, and praised them for bringing a good name to the police department through their commitment and dedication. He expressed satisfaction that the performance of the Traffic Department in Hyderabad is improving day by day.
He assured that excellent performance in duty would be duly recognised, but explicitly warned that corruption on the roads would not be tolerated.
