Hyderabad: Pragathi Nagar residents send SOS to HYDRAA over crematorium encroachment

Hyderabad: Pragathi Nagar residents have alleged that nearly five acres of land earmarked for a public crematorium are being encroached upon.

The residents have approached the HYDRAA Prajavani grievance forum seeking immediate intervention.

Local residents, including Aleti Srinivasa Rao and Jashwanth, submitted a representation stating that the land reserved for public use is gradually being occupied.

They further alleged that about four acres of adjacent government land allocated for a garbage dumping yard are also facing encroachment.

Survey officials have reportedly confirmed the irregularities. Residents have urged HYDRAA to step in without delay and safeguard the land meant for essential civic purposes.

Constructions in Bachupally Lake FTL despite court case

The Shikhar Residents Welfare Association complained that a crematorium structure is being built within the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone limits of Bachupally Pedda Kunta lake.

According to the association, the matter is already pending before a court, yet construction activities have not been halted.

Residents expressed concern that continued construction in the protected lake zone could lead to environmental damage and legal complications.

Road narrowed in Boduppal’s SBR Colony

Representatives of the SBR Colony Welfare Association in Boduppal alleged that shop structures have encroached nearly five feet into a 25-foot-wide internal road.

Due to the narrowing of the road, ambulances and school buses are reportedly unable to access the area smoothly.

They appealed to HYDRAA to remove the illegal extensions and restore the road to its original width in the interest of public safety.

42 complaints received at Prajavani

Forty two complaints were submitted at the HYDRAA Prajavani session concerning encroachments on government lands, lake FTL areas, and public utility spaces across the Medchal–Malkajgiri district.

HYDRA Additional Director Varla Papayya reviewed the grievances and forwarded them to the concerned departments for necessary action.

Residents across multiple localities have called for swift enforcement to protect public lands and prevent further illegal constructions.
