Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath avowed that parks, roads, and spaces earmarked for public use in residential layouts will be protected.
During field inspections across parts of Sangareddy and surrounding areas, the Commissioner reviewed multiple complaints of encroachments and irregular land transactions, assuring residents of corrective action.
Encroachments in layouts under scanner
Inspecting Anand Nagar layout in Patighanapur village of Patancheru mandal, the Commissioner examined allegations that layout boundaries were tampered with and land parcels were illegally converted and sold as agricultural land through Dharani passbooks.
The layout, originally developed in 1980 across 92 acres with 1,109 plots, has seen disputes after certain plots received Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) approvals.
Residents alleged that public utility spaces such as parks and roads had been encroached upon. Ranganath assured that all designated public-use land would be safeguarded and government land adjoining layouts would be protected from illegal occupation.
Similar issues in other layouts
The Commissioner noted that similar irregularities were reported in other layouts, including:
Shankar Hills layout in Vattinagulapally (Gandipet mandal), spread across 493 acres with around 3,400 plots, where ownership disputes and multiple claims have complicated the issue. Parts of the land have also been allocated to the Housing Board.
Industrial Employees Cooperative Housing Society layout in Beeramguda (Ameenpur mandal), developed in 1982 across 180 acres with about 1,650 plots. Society members alleged that encroachers were illegally subdividing and selling plots.
Ranganath held meetings with affected plot owners, heard their grievances, and directed them to submit documentary evidence. He said a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted involving all claimants before taking action.
Assurance to residents
The Commissioner reassured residents who have already purchased plots or constructed houses that they need not panic. He emphasized that efforts would focus on preventing fresh encroachments and protecting legitimate ownership.
Officials were instructed to assess the extent of government land in these layouts and install fencing to prevent further encroachments.
Shambhunikunta outlet and drain to be restored
Later, the Commissioner inspected the Shambhunikunta outlet and associated flood drain in Beeramguda village. He found that construction activities had blocked the outlet channel and directed officials to initiate action against the responsible builders.
He ordered the immediate restoration of the drainage system and the filing of cases against those involved in illegal constructions obstructing water flow.
Government land protection measures
Ranganath also reviewed 16 acres of government land protected by HYDRA in the TNGO Colony area of Gachibowli. Following complaints of encroachments on land reportedly allotted to TSIIC, he directed revenue officials to verify records and fence the remaining government land.
