Hyderabad: In a major anti-encroachment drive, HYDRAA authorities cleared illegal occupations in Patighanapur village of Patancheru mandal in Sangareddy district, reclaiming 47,840 square yards of land earmarked for parks and roads in a residential layout.

The action follows a complaint received during a public grievance programme earlier this week. Officials conducted a field inspection on Wednesday and carried out demolition and clearance operations on Thursday.

Encroachments on layout land identified

The land in question is part of a 92-acre layout named Anandanagar Colony, developed in 1980 with 1,109 plots. Authorities found that areas originally designated for public utilities, such as parks and roads, had been encroached upon.

Investigations revealed that the layout was later misrepresented as agricultural land, with passbooks allegedly created and plots sold to new buyers, triggering complaints from affected parties.

Large-scale clearance operation

HYDRAA teams demolished compound walls made of precast bricks and removed sheds constructed on encroached land. The total area cleared, covering parks and roads, amounts to 47,840 square yards.

Officials also installed signboards marking the reclaimed areas as parkland and demarcated road boundaries as per the original layout plan.

Fencing around park areas

To safeguard the reclaimed spaces, fencing has been erected around park areas. Authorities stated that strict monitoring will continue to prevent future encroachments and ensure that land meant for public use remains protected.

Swift action after the complaint

The operation highlights HYDRAA’s prompt response mechanism, moving from complaint receipt on Monday to inspection on Wednesday and execution of action by Thursday.

Officials reiterated their commitment to protecting public land and urged citizens to report illegal encroachments through official grievance channels.
