HYDRAA reclaims 8 acres of govt land worth Rs 1,200 crore near Hyderabad IT corridor

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on land encroachments near Hyderabad’s IT corridor, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA) on Tuesday reclaimed more than 8 acres of prime government land in Khanamet village, Serilingampally mandal of Rangareddy district.

The land is estimated to be worth over Rs 1,200 crore based on current market value.

Encroachments removed, area fenced

The operation was carried out following complaints of illegal occupation.

After a detailed field inspection with officials from concerned departments, HYDRAA confirmed that the land in Survey No. 55 belongs to the government.

Authorities cleared all encroachments on the site, removed temporary sheds set up for construction workers and ensured the removal of an RCC plant by the concerned construction firm. The entire land parcel has now been fenced.

Official boards have been installed, declaring it as government property.

Land was being fought over by private entities

The land was reportedly under the control of multiple private parties.

Meenakshi Real Estate had been claiming ownership over about 4.20 acres and was using the land for construction-related activities, including storing materials and setting up temporary structures.

In addition, around 4 acres were claimed by Sabita, daughter of a person identified as Kolanu Madhava Reddy, who had allegedly deployed private security personnel at the site.

Land classified as govt property

Officials stated that the land is categorised as assigned land and had already been placed under the prohibited list by the Rangareddy District Collector, clearly identifying it as government-owned.

Despite this classification, it continued to be occupied and used by private entities.

The eviction drive was conducted under the instructions of HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath. After verifying land records and ownership status, authorities proceeded to take possession and secure the land.

Encroachments removed earlier

HYDRAA had previously removed encroachments in nearby areas, including Survey No. 53 (Mondikunta) and parts of Survey No. 55, where up to 11 acres of government land had been reclaimed earlier.

This latest operation highlights HYDRA’s continued efforts to protect high-value government land in and around Hyderabad’s rapidly growing IT corridor.
