Hyderabad: Taking a firm stand against encroachments, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Tuesday carried out coordinated operations across the city, reclaiming and fencing public lands, including lakes and parks.
In a single day, the agency protected assets valued at approximately Rs 1,511 crore, reinforcing its zero-tolerance approach to illegal occupation of commons.
Officials said simultaneous actions were undertaken at four locations, with encroachments removed and fencing erected immediately to prevent re-occupation.

Kondapur: 4-acre lake saved, Rs 700 crore land protected
HYDRAA reclaimed Jangam Kunta in Kondapur, a 4-acre lake abutting the Serilingampally Municipal Office–Madinaguda road. The land, estimated to be worth Rs 700 crore, had been illegally filled and levelled for conversion into plots.
Acting on media reports and public complaints, HYDRAA conducted a joint inspection with Revenue officials, confirmed the waterbody’s status and initiated legal action against encroachers.
On Tuesday, fencing was completed as per the directions of HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath.

Alwal: Encroachments cleared from Kotha Cheruvu
In Medchal–Malkajgiri district’s Alwal mandal, HYDRAA removed encroachments spread over 8 acres within the Kotha Cheruvu FTL. Locals had complained that plastic processing units and waste collection activities were polluting the lake, with temporary sheds erected inside the FTL.
Following a field inspection that confirmed violations of lake protection norms, HYDRAA dismantled the sheds and cleared all illegal structures from the FTL zone.
Parks protected in Jakkidi Nagar and Radhakrishna Nagar
HYDRAA also safeguarded park lands in residential colonies, Jakkidi Nagar, Vanasthalipuram (Ranga Reddy district). A 650 sq yard park earmarked in a 1982 layout (Survey Nos. 132 & 133) was reclaimed.
Encroachments, including compound walls and sheds, were removed, fencing erected and boards installed declaring the land as a public park.
In Radhakrishna Housing Colony, Kakatiya Nagar (Malkajgiri zone), HYDRAA cleared illegal structures from a 450 sq yard park gifted to GHMC through a gift deed, restoring it for public use.
Citywide message
Officials said the day-long operations underline HYDRAA’s commitment to protect lakes, parks and other public assets across Hyderabad.
“Encroachments on commons will be dealt with strictly and reclaimed lands will be secured immediately,” an official said, adding that similar actions will continue citywide.
