Hyderabad: In a major anti-encroachment drive, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has secured 6.30 acres of prime government land worth an estimated Rs 600 crore in Gandhanguda, adjoining the city’s IT corridor.

The land, located in Survey No. 86/P of Gandipet mandal in Rangareddy district, had been allotted by the State government to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for public utility purposes.

However, portions of the land were reportedly encroached upon, with temporary sheds erected by private individuals.

Land allotted for Sewage Treatment Plant

Officials said the government had earmarked the 6.30-acre parcel for the construction of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) by the Water Board. Acting on a request from HMWSSB, HYDRA officials, along with municipal and revenue authorities, conducted a joint field inspection.

During the inspection, authorities confirmed that the land was government property designated for public infrastructure development.

Encroachments removed, fencing installed

Following verification, HYDRAA removed the illegally erected sheds and cleared the encroachments. The agency subsequently fenced the entire 6.30 acres to prevent further illegal occupation.

Signboards have also been installed at the site declaring it as government land and warning against trespassing or encroachment.

Officials stated that strict action would continue against land grab attempts, particularly in high-value zones surrounding the IT corridor, where government lands are increasingly vulnerable to encroachments.
