Encroachment cleared in Jubilee Hills park
In the upscale locality of Jubilee Hills, opposite the out gate of Apollo Hospitals, nearly two acres of designated parkland had allegedly been encroached upon.
A tenant running a women’s hostel in a nearby house had illegally occupied about 150 square yards of the park area. Of this, around 50 square yards were encroached upon by extending construction beyond the compound wall, and a three-storey structure was raised adjoining the existing building.
Another 100 square yards of parkland was reportedly fenced off and developed for private use, resembling a farmhouse-style enclosure.
Locals objected and filed a complaint with HYDRAA. After a joint field inspection with GHMC officials, the encroachment was confirmed.
On Wednesday, authorities demolished the three-storey illegal structure, restored the park boundaries, erected fencing, and filed a police case against those responsible.
Five acres secured in Khanamet near HITEX
In a separate action, HYDRAA secured five acres of government land in Khanamet, close to the HITEX Exhibition Centre.
The land had earlier been allotted to the All India Velama Association. However, following objections over allotments to caste associations, the High Court granted a stay order.
During this period, complaints emerged that portions of the land were being illegally filled with mud and attempts were made to encroach upon it from the rear side. It was also alleged that a watchman deployed at the site was attacked when he objected.
Upon receiving representations, HYDRAA conducted a ground inspection and fenced the entire five-acre parcel to prevent any illegal occupation until the court delivers its final decision. Signboards were also installed, marking it as government land under protection.
Swift action to protect public assets
Officials stated that the twin operations have safeguarded prime government assets valued at approximately Rs 1,003 crore.
HYDRAA reiterated that strict action will continue against land encroachments, especially in high-value urban areas, to protect public property and ensure lawful land use.
