HYDRAA secures 16 acres of govt land worth Rs 3,200 crore in TNGO Colony
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has safeguarded 16 acres of high-value government land in TNGO Colony in Serilingampally mandal of Rangareddy district.
The land parcel, estimated to be worth around Rs 3,200 crore, was facing growing threats of illegal occupation.
Swift action on public complaints
The operation was initiated following complaints received through HYDRAA’s public grievance platform, Prajavani, flagging ongoing encroachment attempts.
Acting promptly, HYDRAA officials carried out a detailed ground inspection in coordination with the GHMC and Revenue Department.
Land meant for public utility
Officials said the pieces of land were part of an HMDA-approved layout from 2007, originally allocated for community and environmental purposes.
The earmarked distribution includes:
- 10 acres for a water body (Musi Kunta)
- 4 acres as a green belt
- 2 acres for a government school
Despite these designated uses, the land had come under sustained encroachment pressure.
HYDRAA places fences around 16 acres
Upon verification of violations, HYDRAA moved to secure the entire 16-acre stretch by erecting fencing around the land. Signboards have also been installed, clearly marking the area as government property to deter further encroachments.
Probe into alleged nexus
During the inquiry, authorities also received complaints alleging that certain representatives of employee associations were facilitating encroachments. These allegations were examined as part of the verification process.
Residents welcome move
Locals have lauded HYDRAA’s intervention, thanking the agency for protecting critical public assets, including the water body, green belt and land reserved for a government school. They also appreciated the prompt response to grievances raised through Prajavani.
