Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has written to the Gandipet Tahsildar seeking clarification over alleged construction activities by Aditya Builders near the Musi River.

HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath said the letter was sent to cross-check doubts arising from satellite imagery, but the agency is still awaiting a response from the revenue authorities.

Letter sent to Gandipet Tahsildar for verification

Commissioner A.V. Ranganath stated that certain satellite images raised suspicions that construction activities by Aditya Builders might have extended into the Musi riverbed.

Based on observations in the DEM (Digital Elevation Model) report, HYDRAA wrote to the Gandipet Tahsildar requesting a field-level verification and an official clarification.

“We asked the Tahsildar to conduct a ground inspection and submit a report clarifying the issue. However, we are yet to receive any response,” the Commissioner said.

Background: Permissions cancelled earlier, later restored by the Court

According to HYDRAA, the issue of construction permissions for Aditya Builders along the Musi riverbank dates back to the previous government. The permissions granted earlier were subsequently cancelled, a decision that has been continued by the present government as well.

Challenging the cancellation, Aditya Builders approached the High Court, stating that their constructions were not within the buffer zone and that the project had been moved further away from the restricted area. The company submitted supporting evidence before the court.

The High Court then directed the Revenue and Irrigation departments to verify the claims and submit reports. Based on the findings of these departments, the court restored the construction permissions, after which the works resumed.

HYDRAA responds to allegations by former MLC Kavitha

HYDRAA also responded to recent criticism from former MLC K. Kavitha, who questioned the agency’s role in the matter. The agency stated that the allegations were unfounded and urged that the facts be understood in their entirety.

Officials clarified that even though the High Court had restored the permissions, HYDRAA sought additional verification after satellite images indicated that a compound wall might have been constructed extending towards the riverbed.

Appeal to understand the facts

HYDRAA emphasized that its letter to the Gandipet Tahsildar was sent purely to reconfirm the situation and ensure compliance with regulations.

Questioning why such a verification process was being criticized, the agency said it had already clarified the same issue earlier when similar allegations were made.

The latest statement, HYDRAA said, was issued once again in response to renewed remarks criticizing the agency’s actions.
