No threat to houses or vacant plots in old layouts: HYDRAA issues clear guidelines
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has clarified that it will not interfere with residential houses or vacant plots in old layouts formed on Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) lands, putting to rest concerns among property owners.
No action on old layout plots
In a statement issued on Saturday, HYDRAA said that no action will be taken against unregularized vacant plots in such old layouts. The agency emphasized that its enforcement drive is not aimed at private properties falling under these categories.
Warning against misuse of HYDRAA name
Citizens were cautioned against believing false claims or falling prey to encroachers misusing HYDRAA’s name to occupy plots. Officials noted that such misinformation is often spread to create panic and enable illegal land grabbing at lower prices.
Focus on public-use spaces
HYDRAA reiterated that its primary objective is to safeguard public-use spaces such as roads, parks, and areas earmarked for community purposes as per approved layouts. Encroachments in these areas will continue to be cleared as part of its mandate.
No demolition of pre-existing structures
The agency also assured that structures existing prior to its formation on July 19, 2024, will not be demolished, in line with the government’s policy.
Encroachment removal drives continue
Recent operations in Kondapur under Serilingampally Mandal reflect this approach, where encroachments were cleared only from parks, roads, and designated public spaces in layouts such as Rajarajeshwari Nagar, OU Colony, and Raghavendra Colony.
Similarly, in Hydernagar, HYDRAA removed encroachments to protect park land in the Gopal Nagar layout.
Public advised to seek official clarification
HYDRAA urged citizens to approach its office directly for any clarifications and not to rely on rumours. It stressed that misleading propaganda about seizure of unregularized plots is false and intended to deceive property owners.
