Inebriated couple ram car into wall of IKEA underpass bridge in Hyderabad
By Anusha Puppala Published on 11 Oct 2020 2:00 AM GMTHyderabad: In an alleged case of drunken driving, a speeding car rammed into the wall of IKEA underpass bridge at Madhpur in Hyderabad in the wee hours of Friday. The mishap was caught by the Surveillance Camera Monitoring Centre (SCMC).
According to the Cyberabad traffic police, a woman was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Her husband, who was also drunk, too was present in the vehicle. The couple has been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment.
Cyberabad traffic police, on its official Twitter handle, shared the CCTV footage of the accident and advised the bikers and motorists to avoid drunken driving. Reportedly, the woman and her husband were wearing seat belts which saved their lives.

A case of drunken driving has been registered against the woman in Madhapur police station (law & order), under Section 336,337 of IPC and Section 184,185 MV Act. The woman was driving i20 and she had registered 27 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) while her husband had 74 BAC.
Inspector P. Ravindra Prasad, Madhapur police station told Newsmeter, "The couple had suffered minor injuries on head, neck and hands. Both of them work in a private company in Shamshabad area. They were coming from Madhapur when the accident occurred. The vehicle has been seized by the police. They are fine now and have also been discharged from hospital. We advise people to not to indulge in drunken driving. Due to Covid-19, check on drunken driving has been halted to avoid spread of the virus but that doesn't mean citizens can indulge in drunken driving and risk their own lives."
