JNTUH, OU postpone exams in view of heavy rains in Hyderabad city for next two days
By Anusha Puppala Published on 13 Oct 2020 5:02 PM GMTHyderabad: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTUH) and Osmania University have postponed exams scheduled for October 14 and October 15 after the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted heavy rains in Hyderabad for the next two days.
"All the Principals of JNTUH constituent and affiliated colleges are informed to note that all the UG & PG regular and supplementary exams of JNTUH scheduled on 14-10-2020 and 15-10-2020 have been postponed due to heavy rains. The revised dates for exams will be intimated later. However, there is no change in the schedule of other exams," JNTUH Registrar said in a circular.
Similarly, Controller of Examinations of Osmania University Venkatesh Sriram said all the examinations scheduled for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are postponed due to torrential rains.
Examinations from October 16 will be conducted as per the timetable. The schedule for postponed examinations will be informed shortly.
"We have taken this decision after receving oral instructions from the government about the torrential rains and a red alert in Hyderabad city," Venkatesh Sriram told Newsmeter.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Tuesday said there is a probability of very heavy rainfall from October 12 till October 15, 2020.
According to GHMC, the expected rainfall according to some models is 90mm - 160mm. GHMC has instructed its officers to be prepared for any situation that may arise in their respective areas by keeping the teams and personnel alert for the next 72 hours.
GHMC has also instructed their officers keep the designated relief centers and evacuation points such as schools, community halls, etc ready for any eventuality.
