JNTUH to commence academic year 2020-2021 from 24 August
By Anusha Puppala Published on 21 Aug 2020 12:59 PM GMTHyderabad: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad (JNTUH) has announced that it will commence the new academic year 2020-2021 from 24 August for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The universityās directorate of academic and planning released a revised academic calendar for 2020-21 for B.Tech and B.Pharm. The calendar has been revised based on the guidelines issued by the UGC and AICTE in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The directorate has also instructed the principals of all constituent and affiliated colleges to follow the academic calendar and record online presentations, regular attendance, and day-wise schedule to be submitted to the university if required.
According to the academic calendar, online classes will be conducted for two to three hours every day initially and depending on the situation they may be conducted for four to five hours in blended mode while following the prescribed COVID-19 protocols/guidelines.
The first set of instructions applies to eight weeks from 24 August to 17 October. Dussehra holidays are scheduled from 19 to 24 October and the first mid-term examinations will be conducted from 26 to 31 October. The parent-teacher meeting is scheduled to take place on 11 November.
The second set of instructions will be applicable from 2 November to 12 December. The second mid-term examinations will be conducted from 28 December 2020 to 2 January 2021. The students will get holidays from 4 to 9 January to study and prepare for the exams and the practical exams will also be held during the time. The end-semester exams will be conducted from 11 to 23 January 2021.
The second semester is scheduled to commence from 25 January 2021. The first set of instructions for the second semester is from 25 January to 20 March 2021. The first mid-term examinations will be conducted from 22 to 27 March. The second spell of instructions will begin from 29 March to 5 May.
The second mid-term examinations are scheduled to be held from 24 to 29 May. From 31 May to 5 June students will get time to prepare for their exams and the practical exams will also be conducted during this period. Summer vacations will begin from 21 June to 10 July. The varsity has decided to conduct all laboratory courses once normalcy is restored.
