Judge’s brother attack case: It is Andhra DGP versus Chandra Babu Naidu
By Newsmeter Network Published on 29 Sep 2020 5:20 AM GMTVijayawada: Shunning the kid-glove approach, Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang accused TDP chief Nara Chandra Babu Naidu of misleading the people by "unverified" information on social media.
DGP was reacting to the open letter by Naidu alleging that the 'attack' on the brother of suspended judge Ramakrishna was 'sponsored' and 'orchestrated' by the ruling YSRCP.
Sawang shot off a letter to the former chief minister saying the investigation has proved that the victim suffered minor injuries due to a physical scuffle in a drunken state. “Therefore your (Naidu) allegation is far from the truth”, he said.
Ironically, while the TDP chief tried to accuse the ruling YSRCP of orchestrating the attack, the investigation has revealed that the accused Prathap Reddy was in fact a 'staunch TDP supporter'.
“It is unfortunate that such allegations are leveled without verifying the facts and further going on to generalize and attribute the same to deteriorating law and order situation in the state,” he said.
DGP asked Naidu to write to him in a sealed cover from here on since his letters may contain “unverified information which could raise unnecessary suspicion in the minds of the citizens”.
Sawang asked the TDP chief to present the evidence proving YSRCP involvement, if any. “Should you hold any evidence or reason for suspicion about the involvement of any individual, you may write to me in a sealed cover and help the police,” he said.
