Hyderabad: The Telangana Government's prestigious scheme Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project cost is likely to be much higher than it was anticipated. The estimated cost of Kaleshwaram Project was Rs 85,000 crore, and it's likely to touch Rs1.14 lakh crore as the officials are gearing up for a fresh round of tenders for Rs 25,000 crore estimated cost of works for pumping third TMC of water. The Kaleshwaram project has been designed to pump two TMC of water per day. Now, the TRS government has decided to pump three TMC of water every day.

The third TMC water will be used for filling Sriram Sagar project and Nagarjuna Sagar ayacut. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao intends to pump the additional third TMC water to Dindi project as well.

The state government has decided to construct pump houses, canals and pipelines for lifting the third TMC water from Kaleshwaram.

All civil works as part of Link-1 have been completed and stretches from Medigadda to Annaram, Sundilla and Ellampally. Motors have capacity to pump two TMC water. The additional expenditure for purchasing mega motors for lifting an additional one TM of water would cost Rs4,000 crore.

The government has decided to take up works to enhance lifting capacity from Ellampally to Mallanna Sagar by one more TMC.

Administrative approvals for Rs14,000 crore works have been issued already. The tender for other Rs11,000-crore worth works will be called for very soon. As a result, the total cost of Kaleshwaram project will be Rs1.14 lakh crore.
