Kalyan Ram joins Sankranti box-office race

Hyderabad: The harvest festival of Sankranti that ushers in a vibrant start to every year is just two months away. The sentiment-driven filmmakers and actors await the auspicious day in order to release films or announce new projects. The developments are keenly followed by every movie-buff worth his salt.

It is nothing short of exhilaration, every Sankranti. This time around, the line-up is as impressive as they come.

Victory Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya are arriving on January 11 with ‘Venky Mama’, which is directed by Bobby (KS Ravindra). This film has Payal Rajput and Raashi Khanna as the lead actresses. Die-hard fans of the Daggubatis are more than excited to watch the uncle and nephew duo on screen.

Mahesh Babu-starrer and Anil Ravipudi directorial ‘Sarileru Nekevaru’, and Allu Arjun starrer helmed by Trivikram Srinivas, ‘Ala Vaikunthapuramlo’, are slated for release a day later.

Adding spice to the festivities is that Kalyan Ram has jumped onto the bandwagon and is all set to clash with them at the box-office.

The makers of ‘Entha Manchivadavura’, which is directed by Satish Vegesna, have announced that they are releasing the film worldwide on January 15. It stars Mehreen Pirzada as Kalyan Ram’s lady love with versatile veteran Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Sharat Babu, Vennela Kishore and others in key roles.

Kalyan Ram is currently basking on the success of his last flick, 11 8, which has done amazingly well at the box-office. The KV Guhan directorial has fetched Kalyan many offers.

We have to wait to see if Entha Manchivadavura can help the actor score an encore considering that he is indirectly pitted against the likes of Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu.

However, all these have to reckon with the magnetic pull of superstar Rajinikant, whose ambitious ‘Darbar’, directed by AR Murugadoss, is also hitting the screens on January 15.

Well, the race to grab the Sankranti sweepstakes is on and it will make for one great start to 2020.
