Karimnagar woman dies after speeding ambulance rams truck in Shameerpet

Hyderabad: A 65-year-old woman who was being taken to a hospital died in an accident at Shameerpet on 6 August after the ambulance she was travelling in rammed a container truck. Chenni Vijaya received severe injuries and was rushed to KIMS hospital where she died.
According to the Shamirpet police, Vijaya, a resident of Karimnagar, was asthmatic. On Wednesday her health deteriorated and she was advised to go to Hyderabad for treatment. Accordingly, her family hired an ambulance and started from Karimnagar in the early hours on Thursday. Around 5 a.m, when the ambulance was nearing the Outer Ring Road, it hit a container truck.
The police said the ambulance was over speeding. A case has been registered by the Shamirpet police and the woman’s body was handed over to the family after a postmortem.
