KCR’s daughter Kavitha appears before court in 2010 case

Hyderabad: Former Nizamabad MP and TRS leader Kavitha Kalvakuntla on Thursday appeared before the Nampally court in connection with a case registered against her during the 2010 assembly by-election.

Kavitha and three others- Mopineni Nirmala, Jhansi Rani, and Jugal Kishore -- were accused in the case. A case under sections 341 and 188 of the IPC was registered against Kavitha and others for leading a protest from the Superintendent of Police’s office at Nizamabad in violation of section 30 of the election code

Jhansi died during the course of the trial. On Thursday, Kavitha appeared before the court, while the other two were absent. The court later issued fresh notices to the duo. Police told the court that one of the accused has died. The court later posted the case for next hearing on March 19.

Besides Kavitha, several other TRS leaders are facing multiple cases for organizing protests during statehood agitation.
