Kerala reports first COVID-19 death in the state

Kochi: Kerala reported its first Covid-19 death in the state on March 28. A 69 year old man died at the Kalamasserry Medical college, located in Ernakulam district in Kerala. The patient had come from Dubai on March 16 and was quarantined. He was tested positive for Covid-19 on March 22.

Reportedly, the man was also undergoing treatment for heart ailment and blood pressure. He had earlier undergone a bypass surgery. Forty nine passengers who were with him in the flight from Dubai are under quarantine.

Around 165 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus so far in Kerala. This includes 11 who have been cured, according to the Union health ministry’s latest data.

With this, the total number of deaths in India have risen to 20. Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in the country has risen to 873 on Saturday. The virus witnessed the highest single-day jump in India in the last 24 hours. As many as 149 patients tested positive for Covid-19 in different parts of the country.

Of the total 873 cases, 775 are active while 78 patients have been discharged.
