Rescued toddler from Hyderabad tests positive for COVID-19
By Newsmeter Network Published on 16 May 2020 1:43 PM GMTHyderabad: The one-and-half-year-old toddler who was kidnapped from his mother while sleeping on the footpath at Chaderghat and later rescued by Hyderabad police, has now tested positive for coronavirus. The childās samples were collected after he was rescued from the kidnapper two days ago and the results have come out positive today.
The childās mother and two home guards who were involved in the rescue operation are identified as primary contacts and shifted to quarantine. Sleuths of the Task Force team of East Zone who investigated the case and traced the child, were also advised to go on home quarantine.
It was found that the kidnapper Ibrahim, who is now lodged at Chanchalguda central prison will also be moved to a quarantine center.
It may be recalled that the toddler was kidnapped from a footpath in Chaderghat three days back. The kid's mother, who had lost her husband two years ago, was residing on the footpath at Chaderghat since the past few months. Based on CCTV evidence, police traced the bike used by the kidnapper and with the clue, traced him to Talab katta in the Old City of Hyderabad. The child was handed over to his mother and the kidnapper was sent to remand.
So far Telangana has six positive cases in the police department, with several personnel being advised to remain in home quarantine.
