Kurnool hospital staff bury wrong corpse, mistaking it for COVID-19 patients body

Kurnool: In a bizarre incident, staff members of Kurnool hospital cremated the wrong corpse mistaking it for the body of a COVID-19 patient. It was later found the bodies had been swapped at the mortuary of the state COVID-19 hospital in Kurnool.

The family members of the non-COVID deceased, identified as A. Rambabu, protested in front of the hospital, demanding the authorities hand over the right body to them. The police said Rambabu died in the hospital around two days ago. Meanwhile, a COVID-19 patient passed away on Sunday. Due to the negligence of the staff, the bodies were wrongly identified at the mortuary.

This incident has marred the image of the medical and health department as the Central public health team is visiting the district to study the COVID-19 situation there.
