 Legal fraternity of Telangana HC bids farewell to Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar

Hyderabad: Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar was given a fond farewell by the legal fraternity of Telangana High Court on Friday, on his transfer from the Telangana High Court to Punjab and Haryana High Court.

A full-court assembled in the first court under the leadership of Justice M.S.Ramachandra Rao, amidst the presence of Advocate General B.S.Prasad, AAG, Government Pleaders, Public Prosecutors and members of the Bar Association to bid farewell to Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar.

Advocate General B.S.Prasad initiated the proceedings with a warm farewell address wherein he recalled several landmark judgments delivered by Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar during his tenure as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and common court for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Justice M.S.Ramachandra Rao, speaking on behalf of the bench, praised Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar for his qualities as a judge.

Justice Sanjay Kumar in his address stated that the high esteem in which the Bar held him was apparent in the way they stood out in his support after the news of his transfer came out. He said it was a humbling experience that both the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Court Advocates Associations came out in support of him after his transfer. The love and affection h received from the bar was a humbling experience for him. He announced that he will continue to uphold the values he cherishes to protect the institution of an independent judiciary.

Justice Sanjay Kumar, as per the notification issued by the ministry of law and justice, will take charge of his new office on or before October 17. This proposed transfer of Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar sparked protests among many members of the Bar. A resolution was passed as a mark of protest, on September 3 2019, by the Telangana High Court Advocates' Association. It called for the abstention of lawyers from appearing in courts throughout Telangana for a week.
