Life Spring Hospitals doctors booked after woman delivers baby with partially grown organs

Hyderabad: Police have registered a case of negligence against Life Spring Hospital and Karthik Diagnostic Centre at Vanasthalipuram after a woman delivered the premature baby with partially grown organs.

After conceiving, G Uma, a 22-year-old housewife, had started taking consultations at Life Spring Maternity Hospital and getting scans done regularly at Karthik Diagnostic Centre, both located in Vanasthalipuram.

Hailing from Mansoorabad, Uma's first child had died soon after birth in 2019. Three months later she conceived again. Keeping in view the complications during the first pregnancy, they were more cautious during the second pregnancy.

During the first scan, she was informed that the baby's growth was good and everything was normal. She underwent six scans. After a TIFFA scan, doctors gave July 24 her expected delivery date (EDD).

However on June 22, when she came to the hospital for routine checkup, doctors advised her to run Gravid Vierus USG scan.

After the test, the doctors told her that they need to operate her and deliver the child.

After delivery, she noticed that the baby has only half a portion of the left hand. Worried Uma and her family members took up the issue with the hospital authorities.

Instead of convincing them, the doctors threatened them with dire consequences. Uma told police that Dr. Soujanya was negligent in treating her.

Based on her complaint, a case has been registered against the hospital and the diagnostic center at Vanasthalipuram police station on Thursday.
