Art meets history: Telangana artists celebrate Kakatiya glory in Madhapur exhibition
Hyderabad: Journey back to the 12th century and witness the grandeur of Telanganaās rich heritage through a breathtaking art exhibition in Hyderabad. Showcasing the works of 55 talented artists, this event offers a vivid, immersive interpretation of the majestic Kakatiya templesābringing to life their intricate carvings, symbolic architecture and enduring cultural legacy through the medium of canvas.
These remarkable artworks emerged from a one-of-a-kind study tour to Warangal, organised by Torch and Kalayajnaāorganisations dedicated to celebrating and preserving Telanganaās artistic and cultural roots. Under the mentorship of renowned artist Sesha Brahmam, participants explored the spiritual and architectural brilliance of the Kakatiya era.
Visit to Ramappa Temple
A key highlight of the journey was a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ramappa Temple, famed for:
- Musical pillars that emit distinct tones
- Elegant bracket figures (Madanikas) carved in dolerite
- Ingenious architectural elements like floating bricks and a sandbox foundation contribute to its resilience against earthquakes
Artists also visited the enigmatic ruins of the Chandravelli Temple and the spiritually resonant Kotagullu, both powerful symbols of Kakatiya artistry.
More than just an art display, this exhibition serves as a tribute to the vision, artistry, and legacy of the Kakatiya dynasty. Each painting is a narrative, offering a window into the soul of Telanganaās glorious past.
