The new facility has been launched at Padmapuram Horticulture Botanical Garden in the Araku Valley of the ASR district. After successful trail runs, some of the tourists were taken up to a height of 300 feet to witness the picturesque view of the valley on October 22.
Nestled in the Eastern Ghats range, Araku is one of the most scenic spots in Andhra Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level, it is a perfect getaway for people who love adventures.
Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Paderu started trial runs on October 12 and was successful.
According to ITDA Project Officer V Abhishek, tourists will be taken up to an altitude of around 200 feet swing. If weather permits, it can go up to 300 feet. The rides will be open from 6 AM to 11 AM, 4 PM to 10 PM. The ITDA will charge Rs 1500 per person.
ITDA has engaged a team of local youth who were trained in Haryana for this purpose. Padmapuram Gardens has been chosen as a suitable place as the area does not have large trees in the surroundings.
The idea of Hot air balloon rides began during the inaugural edition of the Araku Balloon Festival which was the first event of its kind with 13 countries participating in 2017.
The second edition of the Araku Balloon Festival was conducted in January 2021 with around 20 hot air balloons from 15 countries including India, the United States of America, Italy, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Spain, Malaysia, the Netherland, Germany, Brazil, Japan, and Slovakia.
