WeaverStory: Reviving Venkatagiri weaves

WeaverStory, in collaboration with Tata Trusts’ Antaran initiative, has been working to revive the delicate fine-count Venkatagiri saris from Andhra Pradesh. Known for their high cotton thread counts and intricate jamdani motifs, these saris blend heritage craftsmanship with subtle contemporary updates in colour and design.

Nishant Malhotra, founder of WeaverStory, shared: “We studied archival designs and worked with previous buyers of Venkatagiri saris. To modernise them while retaining their heritage, we incorporated refined colour palettes and updated motifs.”
