`From Burma, With Tea: Burma Burma brings slice of Myanmar’s vibrant tea culture to India

Hyderabad: This September, Burma Burma brings a slice of Myanmar’s vibrant tea culture to India with its limited-edition menu, `From Burma, With Tea’.

Available across all Burma Burma restaurants pan-India until September 30, the promotion is designed to showcase the country’s tea shop traditions through drinks and dishes that encourage sharing and conversation.

A Tribute to Burmese Tea Shops

In Burma, tea shops are more than dining spaces. They are places of community, where conversations flow as freely as the tea. Burma Burma Founder Ankit Gupta explained the inspiration, “Burmese Tea Shops are living, breathing spaces of culture, community, and culinary richness, where friendships brew and stories simmer over endless cups of steaming Burmese Milk Tea or Laphet Yay. This menu is particularly close to my heart. After years of travelling through Burma, sipping tea in roadside stalls and bustling tea houses, we knew we had to bring that experience to our diners, but in our own Burma Burma way.”

Head Chef Ansab Khan and his team drew from extensive research and collaborations with Burmese tea masters to adapt this cultural experience for the Indian diner.

Teas That Tell a Story

The menu is anchored by the Burmese Pulled Tea, a blend of black tea, condensed milk, and evaporated milk. From there, the selection expands to both indulgent and refreshing variations.

• Yangon Royal Tea – a layered cream tea best enjoyed with savoury bites.

• Creamy Bagan Tea – full-bodied, echoing the tea stalls of Bagan’s markets.

• Iced Milk Tea – topped with a milk foam cloud for a lighter option.

• Coconut Iced Tea – stirred with coconut milk and custard, offering a creamy yet cooling sip.

Each tea is distinct, pairing nostalgia with a contemporary touch.

Plates to Share

Snacks and shared plates are at the heart of the tea shop experience. The Burma Burma menu offers a range of options to match the teas.

• Chin State Potato Croquettes: crisp potato bites with a five-spice mock meat filling, served with salad and preserved black bean dip.

• Corner Cart Skewers: sticky mock meatballs glazed in chilli, ideal with iced teas.

• Cracklin’ Burmese Dumplings: shiitake and edamame dumplings seasoned with curry powder, served with mustard-chilli dip.

• Seared Tofu and Avocado Salad: a fresh, zesty mix of crispy tofu, avocado, tomatoes, and scallions tossed in chilli-garlic oil and lime.

• Tea Shop Noodle Bowl: Udon noodles in onion-chilli curry, topped with roasted chilli, fried onions, and crispy wheat flakes.

For dessert, the Tea Shop Toast, honey-glazed bread soaked in custard apple milk and finished with clotted cream, offers a sweet ending.

Why Try It

Ankit Gupta describes the philosophy behind the offering: “After years of travelling through Burma, sipping tea in roadside stalls and bustling tea houses, we knew we had to bring that experience to our diners, but in our own Burma Burma way.”

Chef Ansab Khan adds that the promotion is not just about food but about reimagining a cultural space. “Their version of a Burmese Tea Shop menu is a celebration of a tradition that’s as rich in meaning as it is in flavour. Influenced by the country’s rich culinary tapestry and neighbouring cultures, this menu captures the layered flavours and rituals of Burmese tea culture.”

The Takeaway

From Burma, With Tea is available until September 30, 2025, across all Burma Burma outlets in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. Whether over steaming pulled tea or cooling coconut-infused brews, the menu invites diners to slow down, share plates, and enjoy the essence of Burmese hospitality.
