Hyderabad’s Beyond Dance Festival on October 28, 29: A celebration of inclusivity, diversity

Hyderabad: Hyderabad is ready to move to the beat as the stage is set for the Beyond Dance Festival on October 28 and 29. An initiative by Goethe-Zentrum and Dark Vibe Society, the festival promises to be a two-day extravaganza of dance, creativity, and artistic exploration.

‘Pay as you like’ system

Presented by the Telangana Tourism Department and Telangana Delphic Association, the festival’s theme, ‘Art Knows No Borders,’ symbolises the universal language of dance, transcending geographical and cultural boundaries.

Amita Desai, the executive director of Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad, underscores the festival’s inclusivity and its broader vision, extending beyond conventional boundaries in the world of dance. The festival’s curator, Vaibhav Kumar Modi, emphasises its significance for the youth and introduces a ‘pay as you like’ ticketing system, ensuring accessibility for all.

Renowned artist Pranati Khanna hopes that the festival will not only put Hyderabad on the dance map but also provide a platform for various dance forms to coexist harmoniously. The festival’s lineup is a vibrant tapestry of diverse dance forms, including Indian classical and ballet fusion, Kuchipudi duets, Mohiniyattam, contemporary hip-hop, Argentinian Tango, voguing, drag, Kathak, Bollywood, belly dance, and Telangana tribal folk traditions.

Panel discussion, flea market among events

The Beyond Dance Festival is not just about watching; it’s about participating. Workshops catering to beginners and a panel discussion on teaching dance are integral parts of the event, making it an inclusive experience for everyone to enjoy and learn from. With an anticipated footfall of 300 to 400 attendees, the festival promises a lively atmosphere, including an art flea market featuring local brands and businesses.

Beyond Dance Festival aims to create an enchanting fusion of dance traditions and styles, breathing life into Hyderabad’s cultural scene. Whether you’re an aspiring dancer, a seasoned performer, or simply a lover of the arts, the festival promises an unforgettable journey through the boundless world of dance. Don’t miss this opportunity to groove to the rhythms of the world and witness the magic of movement unfold before your eyes.
