“Monochrome designs offer versatility,” explained Reddy. “Balancing bold colours with neutral accents ensures the space doesn’t feel overwhelming.”

Sustainable interior design is no longer a niche, it’s essential. Reusable materials, vegan leather and eco-conscious furniture are becoming standard choices.

“Opt for timeless, durable pieces instead of trendy, short-lived decor,” advised a designer of sustainable furniture, Ankana Sharma. “This not only reduces waste but also saves money in the long run.”

Homes in 2025 are focusing on sensorial design, incorporating textures, scents, lighting and sounds for immersive environments. Soft rugs, essential oil diffusers and soothing background music are key elements.

“Vintage pieces bring character to a space,” said art curator and design enthusiast Johnathan Pillai. “Mixing them with modern elements creates a balanced, timeless aesthetic.”

Seamless smart homes

Smart technology is being integrated into furniture and decor, making homes more efficient and stylish. Wireless charging tables, voice-controlled lighting and hidden speakers are some innovations to watch for.

“Smart design should be invisible yet impactful,” said Roy. “The key is to enhance functionality without disrupting aesthetics.”
