Next-gen Restaurant: Enjoy food with superheroes served by robotic dispensers at BOT9 in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Who doesn’t love superheroes? Now imagine how exciting it would be to eat food with your superheroes while being served by a BOT!

After toy-train and robot-themed restaurants, now comes an Avengers-themed restaurant — BOT9 — in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Post Covid-19 pandemic, when people were worried about hygienic food and contactless delivery, B Kranthi Kumar’s idea of opening a restaurant serving safe food is attracting many back to eating places.

Located in the Madhurawada area, BOT9, designed with an Avengers theme, is now the talk of the town. The restaurant has models of Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain America, Thanos and many more superheroes.

This is a first-of-its-kind restaurant in India with a robotic serving system or a BOT system where food comes in a closed BOT and is mechanically opened at the table. A voice says “Please collect your food. Thank you. Enjoy your time.” While returning to the kitchen, it chooses the shortest route.

Man behind the idea

The brains behind the organisation, Kranthi, is a graduate of Electronic Communication. Earlier, he prepared for Civil Services Exam for three years and later joined an IT company where he worked for two years.

“I had to quit my job and return to Vizag after my mother fell sick, and I wanted to be with her. The Covid-19 pandemic changed my life just like it did for so many others. I had to undergo avascular necrosis bone surgery post-Covid, which left me to take bed rest for almost four months,” said Kranthi.

He spent his time during rest planning his next steps in life.

“During Covid, the restaurant business was hit badly, with people mostly preferring online food services. Restaurants started attracting people with theme-based interiors. I had an idea to go for contactless food delivery. During the time when I was taking rest, I started working on my business idea,” he added.

Superhero fan

Being a fan of the superhero genre, Kranthi celebrated his son’s first birthday with an Avengers theme. “I planned for the theme for about seven months, getting materials from other countries. It was during his birthday that the idea struck me on opening an Avengers-themed restaurant using robotic apparatus or BOT for serving food,” said Kranthi.

Using a Japan-based company’s support, Kranthi customised the superhero theme in his restaurant.

BOT9 restaurant also has a space for children who can enjoy a play arena with a bowling and gaming zone.
