The Purple Turtle, a renowned luxury design and décor brand, has recently unfurled its doors in Hyderabad. The establishment was a gold mine of narratives from across India, beautifully conveyed through an array of artistic collectables, furniture, lighting accents, and more.
The journey into The Purple Turtle begins at the entrance, where a lush foliage of potted plants in terracotta pots and stone-sculpted vases graces the path. Inside, cane-hanging lanterns, that add a zen-like serenity to the interiors, greet the visitors.
Beruru - leisure meets elegance
The garden lifestyle collection, part of the Beruru line, showcased an eclectic range of planters, garden accessories, and more.
Imagine leisurely afternoons at a rustic French Riviera château, where you invite loved ones for an intimate brunch on the patio.
Beruru has curated the essentials for personal moments: porcelain salad bowls, rugs, throws, aprons, and glass holders are part of this enchanting collection. Each piece seems to whisper tales of leisure and conviviality.
Tribute to Indian craftsmanship
On the first floor, a vibrant celebration of Indian craftsmanship dazzles everyone. A hand-painted cabinet illustrating Krishna Raasleela captivated everyone with its burst of colours. Khadau slippers and copper and brass utensils harked back to simpler times, cherished by our elders.
A beautifully carved teak wardrobe stood as a testament to heirloom treasures, while the walls adorned stunning Pichwai art and quirky hand-painted plates, injecting life and exuberance into the interiors.
Dive into royal opulence
Further exploration will everyone to a world of opulence, where suspended stellar chandeliers, intricate filigree hangings, and dandelion pendant lamps adorned the space.
Radeesh Shetty, the founder of The Purple Turtles and a design connoisseur, shared that the brand initially focused on lighting accents but diversified into décor to cater to the evolving tastes of homeowners.
“Today, every member of the family is interested in personalising spaces. Moreover, Hyderabad has a genuine interest in arts and crafts and does not flex it unnecessarily, unlike in other metropolises. Hyderabadis are very hospitable and keen on inviting you to their homes, displaying their affinity for discerning choices in interior styling,” he said.
Crafting beauty with eco-consciousness
Radeesh’s design journey spans from Kolkata to Rajasthan, Kashmir to Kerala, curating not just exquisite but also eco-friendly pieces.
One notable creation is the Oyster Mushroom Pendant Lamp, crafted from banana fibre, championing sustainability. The brand also actively repurposes industrial waste like cement, handcrafted paper, blown glass, beads, shells, cork, and forest waste like Lantana.
“Lantana is an invasive shrub that needs to beweeded out as it’s harmful to biodiversity. It was discussed in G20 discussions on how to curb its spread in forests. We are in the process of making home décor items from it,” Radeesh shared.
In a world where homes are more than just spaces, but repositories of stories and memories, The Purple Turtles has emerged as a guardian of these narratives, crafting homes that resonate with history, culture, and eco-consciousness.
It’s a destination where design meets sustainability, and each carefully chosen piece narrates a tale of its own, enriching the tapestry of every home it graces.
