Malkajgiri MLA attacks BJP activist for questioning `shoddy works’ at Alwal

Hyderabad: A BJP activist was allegedly attacked by Malkajgiri MLA Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao and his henchmen after he questioned alleged shoddy drainage repair works at Alwal on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred when G Praveen Goud informed the contractors about the overflow of sewer water into the colony. Locals said drainage repair work has been going on in the area for the past few days.

On Sunday morning, when the work was going on, Praveen approached the contractor to discuss the overflowing of dirty water in the colony. As he was busy discussing the issue, Mynampalli, who was passing by, asked Praveen as to why he was making a mountain out of a molehill.

When Praveen tried to explain, Mynampalli started abusing him. MLA’s henchmen A Lakshmikanth, Mangal Vishnu, Nakka Prabhakar and a few others joined in and assaulted Praveen. Mynampalli later threatened to kill Praveen if he approached police.

The entire episode was caught on CCTV cameras. As CCTV clippings went viral, Praveen approached Alwal police to lodge a formal complaint against the MLA.

However there was no response from the police. After much persuasion, police finally accepted the complaint but did not register any case.

Police officials said the complaint is non-cognizable in nature and action can be taken only after getting permission from the court. Further inquiry is in progress.

It may be noted that Mynmpally was involved in similar incidents in the past too. But he always got away because of his influence
