Mallareddy College assistant professor sexually abused student in lab

Hyderabad: An assistant professor working with Mallareddy Engineering College at Maisammaguda village in Hyderabad is alleged of sexual abuse . The victim, a second-year student has approached the police and registered a rape case against assistant professor Mallikanti Venkataiah. According to sources, police have detained him for questioning.

Reportedly, on December 23, Venkataiah, who is from the Geology department, asked the victim to meet him at one of the labs located inside the College campus. Once she reached the lab, the assistant professor closed the doors, forced himself on her, sexually abused her even as she resisted. Shocked by the attack, the victim rushed home, and she lodged a complaint with the police the next day, i.e December 24.

Police sent the girl for a medical examination and began a probe. The officers are also inquiring if the accused had any history of misbehaviour with students from the college. Further investigation is underway.
