Man attempts suicide at Nellore Collectorate; alleges Tahsildar of corruption

Nellore: A person alleging that a Tahsildar had cheated him, attempted suicide in front of the Collectorate in Nellore city on Wednesday. He said the Tahsildar of Sydapuram Mandal had cheated him in the name of providing Pattas to the poor, who owned Government lands in the Mandal.

Arigela Nagarjuna from Chilamanuru in Chittamur Mandal, who reached the Collectorate along with his family members tried to douse himself in petrol.

His family members started screaming for help and local police and officials prevented him from the bid. He categorically charged that the Tahsildar asked him to collect Rs. one crore from the poor for giving Pattas and now the revenue official deceived the people making him responsible. Police took him into custody for interrogation.
