Man calls wife ‘Fidayein’ to stop her leaving India, arrested

Delhi, August 18: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a man who allegedly made a hoax call at the Delhi International Airport on August 8 to stop his wife Rafiya from leaving India.

The hoax call created a panic among the security agencies resulting in the temporary suspension of the International flights.

The accused identified as Nasiruddin is a permanent resident of Sitamarhi, Bihar. The man, in the call, allegedly said that his wife is a ‘fidayeen’ and has reached the Delhi International Airport to leave for Dubai or Saudi Arab and is going to blow off a bomb in the flight.

Later, police investigations have revealed that the man did this to prevent his wife from leaving the country. Police arrested him from Delhi’s Bawana area and registered a criminal case against Nasiruddin at PS Udyog Vihar, Gurugram, which is the location of the office of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) Call Centre.

The accused reportedly owns a bag manufacturing factory in Chennai. He had married Rafiya, his employee, who was now planning to leave India to work in the Gulf.

When his attempts to stop Rafiya from leaving the country went in vain, he came up with the idea of hoax call alleging his wife to be a bomber.
