Man gets 10-yrs rigorous imprisonment for attacking girl with knife in 2019
By Newsmeter Network Published on 13 July 2020 6:00 PM GMTHyderabad: The Hyderabad court, on 13 July, sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for attacking and injuring a girl with a knife in 2019. The Additional Metropolitan Sessions court also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act.
Chitkuri Bharath had reportedly threatened and harassed the victim, a college student, after she had rejected his proposal. A complaint had been lodged against him on 7 January 2019 and he was given counseling in the presence of his parents. On 6 February 2019, Bharath attacked the girl with a knife at Sathya Nagar in Barkatpura, Kacheguda. The victim was rushed to a hospital while Bharath escaped.
The complaint was forwarded to the SHO of Kacheguda and Bharath was charged with offences under various sections of the IPC and section 12 of the POCSO Act and section 27 of the Arms Act. However, he was found not guilty for offenses under the POCSO Act and section 354-D of the IPC.
