Man posed as naxalite threatened Aparna Constructions; arrested

He claimed himself to be a Naxalite and tried to extort money from the construction firm.
Police found that Nagesh Kumar was not a Naxalite and that he did not have any connections with the banned extremist group. However, a detailed inquiry into his background and contacts is being conducted, said the police.
According to the officials of Punjagutta police station, Nagesh went to the Aparna Constructions office at Road No. 1 in Banjara Hills, last week. At the reception, he informed that he wanted to meet the managing director, but as he was not available in the office, the staff directed him to meet the next authorities and discuss if there were any issues.
However, Nagesh did not meet anyone at the office and left the place on being told that the MD was not there.
On Monday, he called up one of the senior staff in the construction firm office and identifying himself as a Naxalite, demanded that they should pay him Rs 25 lakh. He also threatened to blast their construction site near Tolichowki, following which the construction company representatives lodged a complaint with the Punjagutta police station and a case has been registered.
Based on the technical evidence and his mobile phone records, police arrested Nagesh Kumar and produced him before the court.
