Asifbad: Security forces have launched a massive operation to flush out a newly infiltrated group of Maoists led by top commander Bhaskar from the jungles of erstwhile Adilabad district.

This followed the reports that Bhaskar and his team have sneaked into Telangana from Boath.

Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) M Mahender Reddy toured the Komaram Bheem Asifabad district on Friday and reviewed the security situation with the field officers.

“A team led by the top Maoist leader Bhaskar from Boath has entered the state, which is a matter of concern. Around 500 well-trained personnel including Greyhounds, Special Police and AR are combing the forest to nab him. We will soon bring them to justice” he told media persons.

DGP Reddy exuded confidence that forces will be able to thwart Maoist designs in all the four districts of erstwhile Adilabad.

He requested people to cooperate with the police and share any information about suspicious activities in their areas.

The DGP noted that the state government has taken up several welfare and development activities in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Asifabad districts. He said Maoist cadres are trying to terrorize people in the area.

“People should be aware that the Maoists movement will hinder development activities. All public welfare measures including education, health, and other activities will be affected,” he said.

DGP Reddy noted that combing operation has been intensified and the movement of Maoists is being tracked closely. “We are also regularly conducting anti-Maoist operations,” he said.

Recently, three incidents of exchange of fire between Maoists and forces were reported from forest areas at Tiryani in Asifabad district. Another incident was reported from Bhadradri Kothagudem forest area.
