MBA graduate ends life over dowry harassment from husband

Hyderabad: Harassment from her techie husband to give additional dowry forced an MBA graduate to end her life. The victim, T Mallika, committed suicide by allegedly consuming an unknown poison at Narsingi on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

T Mallika, hailing from Warangal, was married to E Koti Reddy from Guntur district. As Koti Reddy was working for a software firm in Delhi during the initial days of their marriage, Mallika also moved to Delhi. Koti Reddy then started to demand an additional dowry from her and harassed her. As a result, she attempted suicide. Family members from both sides intervened and compromised the couple, after which they shifted to Hyderabad.

Since then, Koti Reddy has been working for a software firm in the city and Mallika was working for a construction firm. However, his demand for additional dowry didn't stop and the harassment towards his wife doubled.

She was suddenly found missing on Saturday. When Koti Reddy went searching for her, he found her in an unconscious state near their house and found that she had consumed poison.

Her parents stated that, since she was unable to bear the torture from her husband, Mallika had committed suicide. Based on their complaint, a case of dowry harassment was registered against Koti Reddy. He was detained for further investigation.
