The boy, Dhavala Yashwanth, was a resident of Gorijavolu village. The police suspect the role of P. Veeraswami, the victim's relative, who has been absconding since Friday.
According to the police, Yashwanth's father D. Nageswara Babu died a year ago and the boy's mother, Lakshmi, along with her son Yashwanth and daughter Jyothi, had been staying with Veeraswami at Gorijavolu village for the past few months.
A few days ago, Lakshmi was hospitalised after a snake bite her. On Friday, Lakshmi was discharged from the hospital. When she returned home she found that her son Yashwanth was missing. The woman along with a few others searched for the boy but their efforts proved futile. She then lodged a complaint with the Nadendla police.
The police formed two teams and launched a search operation to trace the missing boy. On Sunday morning, they found Yashwanth's body near a rivulet on the outskirts of the village. The cops suspect that Veeraswami might have killed the boy and dumped his body there.
The police sent the body for postmortem. They have formed a special team to arrest Veeraswami in connection with the suspicious death of the boy.
