Hyderabad: Expectations on Shahid Kapoor have touched the sky post the release of Kabir Singh. He and the film received some backlash on social media. Well, that is only because people believed Shahid to be Kabir Singh. So after being part of so many films and a movie like Kabir Singh, Shahid has to live up to the expectations of the audience in his next film and make sure that it doesn’t tank at the box office.

So once again, Shahid chose to remake another Telugu film. Looks like his love and respect for Telugu cinema has become immense after remaking Arjun Reddy in Hindi. Shahid is currently busy prepping for remaking Telugu film Jersey in Hindi.

There have been a lot of speculations on who will be pairing up with Shahid to play his ladylove in the film. And finally, it is confirmed that Love Sonia, Super 30 and Batla House actor Mrunal Thakur has been roped in to play the leading lady in this film. An official confirmation is awaited.

Mrunal is popular as a television actor and has come into limelight with her Bollywood debut film Super 30. With her amazing acting skills, she impressed the audience. Mrunal will be collaborating with Shahid for the first time.

It is said that Karan Johar has acquired the Hindi remake rights of Jersey and the amount for which he has bought the rights might be the half of the budget of the entire movie. Also, it is said that Shahid is demanding Rs 40 crore as remuneration and he has hiked it after a hit like Kabir Singh.

The original version has Nani and Shradhha Srinath in lead roles and is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri.
