Changing times: Baby feeding kiosk at Nampally railway station

A baby feeding (lactation) kiosk for nursing mothers was inaugurated on Monday at the Hyderabad (Nampally) railway station on platform no. 4. It was installed by the Rotary Club of Hyderabad East, Rotary International District 3150 in coordination with South Central Railway.
The kiosk with multiple cubicles will help nursing mothers with privacy during breastfeeding during train journeys, said a release from the railways.
Senior police officer Shikha Goel appreciated the efforts of Rotary Club for setting up the baby feeding kiosk at Nampally Railway Station, a major rail hub in the twin cities. She also praised Rotary Club for their service to the society like peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water, and sanitation, maternity and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development etc.
The release said that the railways department is always in the forefront in providing amenities and facilities to commuters and setting up of lactation kiosks is one among such initiatives. With maternal and childcare one of the focus areas of passenger amenities, railways is planning to set up more kiosks/cubicles in other stations with the assistance from Rotary Club for the benefit of nursing mothers traveling by train.
