It is not the first time residents are facing this situation. According to residents, this is a frequent occurrence and happens every few months.
Many people have taken to social media to express their displeasure over the lingering odor caused by the chemicals.
The odd stench permeated the air at 2 am. Several people have experienced headaches, nausea, and respiratory discomfort.
Concerned residents have urged local officials to conduct an immediate investigation.
"This has happened before. We try to avoid the stench by keeping our windows closed. I left my windows open last night because it was raining. But soon the entire flat was filled with this chemical smell," said Subodh Vaidh, a resident of My Home Mangala in Kondapur.
āI woke up at 4 am with a bad headache due to the smell. My children were also feeling suffocated and coughing uncontrollablyā another resident added.
āEvery evening, plastic and several other waste is burnt outside our premises. That too contributes to the smell. It gets very hard to keep our balconies open because of discomfortā said Akhil, a resident of the area.
Another resident Sadhana Singh said she reported this matter time and again to MHM but to no avail. āThis may be the smell of sulfur as it is an industrial area surrounded by landfills. It can be very harmful to health if not dealt with in the right way. I hope the government intervenes and solves this issue,ā she said
Konapur is surrounded by factories. Several Aluminium Industries have come up in the area.
