Mystery shrouds newly-wed techie’s death in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, nine days after beginning a new life in marriage, a techie was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her rented flat in Sanatnagar of Hyderabad.

The victim Annapurna Poornima got married to Dasari Karthik on November 25, with whom she was in a relationship for over a year. While Karthik is absconding, Poornima’s family alleged that she was killed and the incident is being projected as a suicide.

Sanatnagar police registered a suspicious death case and started a probe. They recovered a suicide note, in which Poornima purportedly expressed her love for Karthik.

Demanding action against Karthik and blaming police for allegedly trying to hush up facts, her family members staged a protest in front of the police station on Wednesday morning.

As the police station is located on the busy Erragadda-Sanatnagar stretch, the protest led to a traffic jam for some time.

Poornima hailing from Gudivada of Andhra Pradesh was working for an MNC in the city. She fell in love with Karthik, who was working for a private firm. On November 25, the couple got married in the city despite opposition from family members. They were residing in a rented flat at Borabanda.

Meanwhile, Karthik, a confirmed alcoholic, began consuming alcohol continuously since the day of marriage and even started harassing Poornima, suspecting infidelity.

Inquiries revealed that unable to bear this harassment, she allegedly took the extreme step. On Tuesday she was found hanging in the flat by her friends. Further investigation is underway, said, police officials.
