Naidu uses Backward Classes as vote bank, for caste politics: Mopidevi Venkataramana

Vijayawada: YSRCP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Mopidevi Venkataramana, on 28 September, slammed TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu for using the Backward Classes like a vote bank and claimed that the TDP had not implemented a single scheme for the upliftment of the community during the party's regime.

Mopidevi said the Opposition leader had been repeatedly taking the BCs for a ride and had done nothing for their welfare during his party's regime. He said that Mr. Naidu had failed to deliver his promises made to the community and had never bothered about them when in power. “It is quite evident that Mr. Naidu has been using the BCs like a vote bank and for playing caste politics. His version of BC quota changes according to whether he is in power or in the Opposition,” the MP said.

Mopidevi flayed the TDP chief for limiting the BC welfare activities to providing cattle, milk cans, fishing nets, and iron boxes. He criticised Mr. Naidu for misusing Aadharana funds and neglecting the welfare of the Backward Classes. “It is Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy who is committed to providing equal opportunities to the BCs and has established 57 BC corporations category wise. Unlike Mr. Naidu who wanted to make profit by filling the Rajya Sabha seat, Jagan has sent two members of the Backward Classes to the Rajya Sabha,” he said.

The MP claimed that Jagan has spent Rs. 19,750 crore towards the welfare of the BCs in just 16 months. “While the Chief Minister is striving hard for the upliftment of the Backward Classes, the TDP has been using them for its own political gains,” he said and demanded Mr. Naidu discuss BC welfare activities that were implemented during the TDP rule in the state.
