‘200 days, no closure for families’: KTR slams CM Revanth-led govt over SLBC tunnel disaster
KTR said the February 22 collapse, which killed eight workers, was the result of ‘criminal negligence’ by the ‘corrupt Revanth Reddy government’

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday lashed out at the Congress government in Telangana for failing to retrieve the bodies of six workers trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel, more than 200 days after the fatal collapse.
He promised that once BRS returns to power, it will ensure justice for the victims’ families.
‘200 days, no closure for families’
KTR said the February 22 collapse, which killed eight workers, was the result of ‘criminal negligence’ by the ‘corrupt Revanth Reddy government.’
He alleged that even after months, the bodies of six workers remain inside the collapsed section and their families have not received compensation.
BJP’s ‘selective silence’
The BRS leader also targeted the Union government, accusing the BJP of shielding Congress in Telangana.
“The same BJP that rushed a National Dam Safety Authority team over minor issues in Kaleshwaram did not even send a team to probe the SLBC collapse. Not a single question was raised by the BJP. Why is BJP Bade Bhai always shielding Congress Chote Bhai?” he asked.
BRS assures accountability
Promising justice, KTR declared that BRS will act decisively once back in power.
“Those who buried the six men alive will pay for it. We will get answers for SLBC along with every injustice done under Congress rule,” he said.
The tragedy inside SLBC
The mishap occurred on February 22, nearly 14 km inside the tunnel, where about 50 workers were engaged in excavation using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). Eight workers were trapped when a portion of the roof caved in.
Bodies yet to be recovered
So far, only two bodies have been retrieved — Gurpreet Singh, a TBM operator from Punjab, on March 9, and project manager Manoj Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, on March 25.
The bodies of six others — Sri Niwas (UP), Sunny Singh (J&K), and Sandeep Sahu, Jegta Xess, Santosh Sahu, and Anuj Sahu (all from Jharkhand) — remain unrecovered, leaving their families in anguish.
