A total of 78 Muslim candidates contested for the 18th Lok Sabha elections

21 Muslim candidates elected to 18th Lok Sabha

New Delhi: 24 Muslim candidates have won Lok Sabha seats across the country. There are 5 each from Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, three from Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala and one each from other states. The candidates have won with a good margin.

A total of 78 Muslim candidates contested for the 18th Lok Sabha elections.

Here is the list of elected candidates:

Uttar Pradesh:

Ā· Congress candidate Imram Masood won from Saharanpur by a margin of 64,542 votes

Ā· Iqra Choudhary, a 29-year-old Samajwadi Party candidate from Kairana, secured victory over BJP Pradeep Kumar by 69,116 votes.

Ā· Samajwadi Party's Mohibbullah won the Rampur seat by securing 4,81,503 votes

Ā· Samajwadi Party Zia Ur Rehman won in Sambhal by a margin of 1.2 lakh votes

Ā· Samajwadi Party Afzal Ansari won in Ghazipur by a margin of 124861 votes

West Bengal:

Ā· Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan won against senior Congress leader and six time Lok Sabha MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in Baharampur seat by a margin of 85,000 votes

Ā· Khalilur Rahaman from Trinamul Congress in Jangir won with a margin of 116637 votes

Ā· Abu Taher Khan from Trinamul Congress in Murshidabad won with a margin of 164215 votes

Ā· S K Nurul Islam from Trinamul Congress in Bashirat won with a margin of 333547 votes

Ā· Sajda Ahmed from Trinamul Congress in Uluberia won with a margin of 218673 votes

Bihar

Mohammed Jawed from Indian Nation Congress in Kishanganj, won with a margin of 59692 votes

Tariq Awar from Indian National Congress in Katihar, won with a margin of 49863 votes

Madhya Pradesh:

Ā· Afzal Ansari, the incumbent MP from Ghazipur, won the seat by bagging 5.3 lakh votes

Hyderabad:

Ā· AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi retained his Hyderabad seat by a margin of 3,38,087 votes over his nearest rival BJP's Madhavi Latha Kompella.

Ladakh:

Ā· In Ladakh, Independent candidate Mohammad Haneefa secured a victory by a margin of 27,862 votes

Jammu and Kashmir:

Ā· Independent candidate Abdul Rashid Sheikh won Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla seat by bagging 4.7 lakh votes.

Ā· Mian Altaf Ahmad of the National Conference won in Jammu and Kahsmir's Anantnag-Rajouri seat by 2,81,794 votes against former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti

Ā· In Srinagar NC candidate Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi secured 3,56,866 votes.

Assam

Ā· Rakibul Hussain from Dhubri of the Indian National Congress won with a margin of 1012476 votes

Kerala

Ā· Shafi Parambil from Vadakara of Indian Nation Congress won with a margin of 114506 votes

Ā· E T Mohammed Basheer from Malapurram of Indian Union Muslim League won with a margin of 300118 votes

Ā· Dr M P Adus Samad Samadani from Ponnani of Indian Union Muslim League won with a margin of 235760 votes.

Lakshawadeep

Muhammed Hamdullah Sayeed from Indian National Congress won with a margin of 2647 votes.

Tamil Nadu

K Navaskani from Ramanthapuram from Indian Union Muslim League won with a margin of 166782 votes
