Naidupeta: With the aim to provide shelter to homeless people and with housing first approach, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday launched housewarming of 2,50,893 houses across the state.

17 lakh houses by 2029

He personally participated in a housewarming event at Naidupeta in Sullurupeta constituency of Tirupati district. The houses built under TIDCO and PMAY schemes were handed over simultaneously at more than 30 locations.

The Chief Minister said the government aims to ensure that no poor family remains without a house by 2029 and set a target of constructing 17 lakh houses.

4.5 lakh houses to be given by end of 2026

Speaking on the occasion he announced that an additional 4.5 lakh houses will be constructed and handed over to the poor by the end of this year. He stated that housewarming ceremonies will be conducted in June and September for upcoming beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister said that within 21 months, the coalition government has already completed and delivered 5.5 lakh houses. In Tirupati district alone, 15,659 houses were completed and distributed.

The Chief Minister inspected the G+3 housing complexes at Puduru near Naidupeta, developed with modern amenities such as parks, walking tracks, wide roads, anganwadis and schools.

He also participated in housewarming ceremonies with beneficiaries, including traditional Hindu rituals and visited Muslim households.

Solar panels

He directed officials to install solar panels under the PM Surya Ghar scheme and promote energy-efficient appliances in every home. The state has signed an agreement with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency in this regard.

The Chief Minister described March as a month of welfare initiatives, highlighting several welfare schemes including pensions, Talliki Vandanam, Stree Sakti, Annadata Sukheebhava and other welfare schemes.

The Chief Minister criticized the previous government, alleging misuse of central housing funds.
